If you would like to discuss starting a Community Group based around an interest you have, please contact Pastor Ann Harrington at the church office @ (810) 984-5571 or click here to email Pastor Ann.

Benefits of Belonging to a Community Group

A Community Group is a place where you can know others and be known, a place where you can have fun, share life, and grow in your walk with the Lord. A Community Group is a place where you can ask questions and discuss your faith, and a place where you can pray and be prayed for.

One of the greatest benefits of belonging is that you get to build relationships with others in your church family. As you are involved with other believers, you have the opportunity to grow spiritually in an environment of encouragement and accountability. You also have the chance to be a support to those in your group using the gifts God has given you.

A Biblical Perspective for Community Groups

As we read through the New Testament, we see continual examples of Small Group ministry. The greatest example was Jesus' own ministry with His disciples. At its essence it was a small group being trained to continue the ministry when Jesus left.

If we look at the New Testament church, we see that they were basically home Bible studies. We are told that Paul went from house to house, teaching, and that the first Christians broke bread together in their homes. Consider the following verses:

"They devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and to the fellowship, the breaking of bread and to prayer. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Every day they continued to meet together…they broke bread in their homes and ate together…and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:42, 44, 46-47

"Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the Good News that Jesus is the Christ." Acts 5:42
